By Paul Greeley
WLKY, Hearst’s CBS affiliate in Louisville, has named Kellen Young as its new news director.
Young comes to Louisville from WLWT, Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, where he has helped lead the newsroom since 2023.
Before moving to Cincinnati, Young spent nine years at WCVB in Boston, serving as both an executive producer and producer. He began his Hearst Television career in 2012 as a producer at WXII, the company’s NBC affiliate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Throughout his career, Young has helped lead coverage of defining local and national stories, from the Boston Marathon and presidential inaugurations to Super Bowl championships and major community events, including Reds Opening Day. He brings a proven record of leading teams through breaking news and producing impactful journalism across platforms.
A Kentucky native, Young was born in Louisville and grew up in Georgetown. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he studied broadcast journalism.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kellen back home to Kentucky and to the WLKY family,” said Andrea Stahlman, President and General Manager of WLKY. “He brings an impressive record of newsroom leadership, a deep understanding of our commitment to trusted journalism and a genuine connection to the communities we serve. Kellen is an innovative, energetic leader who understands the need to meet our viewers with excellent coverage on every platform.”
“I’m excited to lead the talented journalists at WLKY and, in a way, come home,” Young said. “My family has called Louisville home for generations. Being a part of the WLKY newsroom and serving this community is a dream come true and an opportunity I do not take for granted.”
Young will begin his role as WLKY News Director in August.
