Local TV News Promos Featuring Accuracy, Results and Neighborhood Reporting
By Paul Greeley
Today’s News Blues is the only place that shares local TV news promos of every kind from around the country that readers can see, admire, emulate, criticize, dissect and steal.
I am connected to 18,142 people on LinkedIn, many of whom are in the broadcast industry.
So, I get to see what these people post on LinkedIn and it has become THE place for television news and marketing folks to share their work.
They value exposure because they’re proud of what they’ve created.
Local TV marketing and creative services folks love to see the creative promos done by other stations around the country.
We look for ideas, premises, copy points, production tips, etc. that we can borrow and customize for our station.

Here’s a promo from KCRA, Hearst’s NBC affiliate in Sacramento, that any TV station would be proud to air as it promises facts, verification and accuracy.
Posted by Michée Mande, a promotions producer at KCRA, who writes, “When facts compete with noise, clarity becomes the story. Proud to have produced this spot for KCRA 3, a reminder that journalism is at its best when it follows the evidence.”
This is a great example of a local TV station listening to a community, reporting on the problem and getting results.

Jason Pallante, manager of multi-platform marketing at WFOR, CBS Miami, posted this on social media, writing “CBS News Miami getting results once again! Great work by Your Reporter Stephen Maugeri. We’re always looking for opportunities to show off the enterprise reporting done by our diligent journalists and this is just another example.”

In Tucson, KGUN, the Scripps’ ABC affiliate, has assigned reporters to cover certain geographic areas around the city.
Here are two spots posted by Rob Olsen, a creative services producer at KGUN, introducing the reporters and the region they cover.
“Downtown and Midtown are the heart of Tucson, and reporter Eddie Celaya is an integral part of that community,” Olsen wrote. “From covering downtown council happenings to updates from the University of Arizona, Eddie makes sure you stay informed. Watch Eddie weeknights on KGUN 9 News!”
On Tucson’s East Side, Athena Kehoe has been a member of the community for years,” Olsen wrote. “She understands the questions her neighborhood has, and has done an incredible job bringing answers to the East Side. Watch Athena weekdays on Good Morning Tucson, and weeknights on KGUN 9 News.”
