Tim Maloney has been promoted to General Manager and Director of Sales of WBKO, Gray’s ABC, FOX, and CW affiliates serving Bowling Green and the surrounding South Central Kentucky region.

The promotion takes effect today, Sept. 21.

“WBKO has been Bowling Green’s Own for more than 60 years. That legacy is not something I take lightly,” Maloney said. “I’m honored to become the next steward of this station, and I intend to work tirelessly to serve our viewers, our customers, our employees and the communities that count on us every day.”

Maloney has 20 years of experience in key sales and leadership roles at WBKO.

He began his tenure at the station as an Account Executive and most recently served as Multi-Media Sales Manager, directing station revenue strategies and servicing local and regional business accounts.

“I’ve spent two decades in this building, much of that time on the sales side, building relationships with the businesses and people who make this community strong,” Maloney said. “That experience has given me a firsthand understanding of what WBKO does well, where we can continue to grow and what both our station and our community need from us moving forward.”

As General Manager and Director of Sales, Maloney said he will focus on fostering a workplace culture rooted in teamwork, accountability and a shared commitment to serving South Central Kentucky.

“My vision is for every member of the WBKO team to be able to tell you why they show up to work here,” Maloney said. “I want us to be proud of the work we do, supportive of one another and united by a clear purpose. That is the culture I’m committed to building.”

Maloney maintains an active presence in local civic affairs. He currently serves on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky where he previously served as Board Chairman and holds an associate membership with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, he helps spearhead station events, fundraisers, and community initiatives that support active partnerships with more than 30 nonprofit organizations across the region.

“Our job is simple to say and hard to do: be the station this community can truly rely on every single day,” Maloney said. “Whether it is a major breaking-news event, severe weather coverage, a local business success story or a small moment that matters to a family, WBKO should be there—accurate, dependable and connected to the people we serve.”

Maloney attended Xavier University and studied fine arts at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
