Carolina TV Station Begins Hour-Long Newscast at 7 p.m.

By Paul Greeley

WHNS, branded as Fox Carolina, the Gray Media-owned television station serving the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson, S.C., and Asheville, N.C., market, began a brand-new, one-hour evening newscast at 7 p.m. yesterday, Sept. 22, 2026.

The new broadcast will air Tuesday through Friday from 7 to 8 p.m., replacing syndicated airings of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon as part of the station’s strategic commitment to expanding its team and delivering more live, local news to the community.

Monday nights at 7 p.m. will remain home to FOX Carolina’s dedicated Clemson programming.

Bryce Caldwell

“Expanding our evening lineup with a live, local 7 p.m. newscast directly reinforces our mission to serve Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina,” said Bryce Caldwell, Vice President and General Manager of FOX Carolina. “Investing in local journalism and growing our newsroom allows us to better connect with our communities and provide timely information on the issues that impact our families the most.”

Matt Stanley

“Viewer habits are evolving, and our audience expects timely, trusted local coverage when they sit down in the evening,” said Matt Stanley, News Director at FOX Carolina. “Expanding into the 7 p.m. hour is a deliberate investment in original reporting, giving viewers direct access to breaking developments, investigative depth, and critical First Alert forecasts.”

In addition to broadcast and cable distribution, the 7 p.m. newscast will stream live on the FOX Carolina News app, foxcarolina.com, and the station’s connected-TV apps.
