CNN’s Chris Cuomo argued on this show Cuomo Prime Time that President Trump saying he was taking the anti-malarial drug Hydroxychloroquine to prevent Covid-19 was a “distraction.” Cuomo argued not to focus on that, but rather on how to reopen the country.

But at the following day’s White House press briefing, Kayleigh McEnany had a distraction of her own.  She went on the attack against Cuomo, accusing him of taking what she described as the “less safe form,” quinine to combat his coronavirus just weeks prior.

“Well, Cuomo mocked the president for [taking this]. Hydroxychloroquine of course is an FDA approved medication with a long proven track record for safety, and it turns out that Chris Cuomo took a less safe version of it called quinine which the FDA removed from the market in 2006 because of its serious side effects including death. So really interesting to have that criticism of the president.”

No, seriously, I took Hydroxychloroquine and it’s burning!

Deadline reported that CNN didn’t have a response to McEnany’s statement.
