THIS METEOROLOGIST SAVED MANY LIVES WHEN THE TORNADOS ROLLED IN
WSPD meteorologist Trent Okerson led coverage on the deadly tornados that came through Kentucky last Friday.
The 14-year vet says he never saw anything like it in his life —- during what people are now calling his ‘life-saving’ coverage, Okerson told people to leave their homes and even put helmets on as the storm approached their area.
Mayfield is one particular area that was hit hard. People, especially those in mobile homes, lost everything.
One man said after hearing Okerson’s forecast, he left. He had 20 minutes to spare. When he returned back to see his home after the storms passed — it was completely leveled.
His motto is “don’t scare, prepare,” he told Roker.
TODAY show meteorologist Al Roker visited Okerson and the station last week to talk about the coverage and drop donations to people in Mayfield who lost everything.
