WITHOUT TV, LONGTIME ANCHOR FORGES PATH IN REAL ESTATE

Delaine Mathieu‘s professional life turned upside down when she was abruptly ousted at San Antonio’s KOAI a year ago.

Mathieu, who spent 16 years as the station’s anchor, was able to pick up the pieces and find a new career.

She is creating a different path as a realtor with the Phyllis Browning Company. As her sister found success in the real estate business, Mathieu knew it “seemed to check a lot of boxes,” she told MySanAntonio.com.

Selling homes is a “dog-eat-dog” business between agents, and Mathieu acknowledges it has been hard work but: “I embrace that. I’m up for challenges. It’s extremely rewarding, and I really enjoy not having to wear heels every day,” she told MySanAntonio.com.

She misses her TV past, and the relationships.

“When you leave TV news, you don’t interact as often as you did every day.”
