LIGHTEN UP, GUYS. THE DEAL IS DEAD
Standard General and Tegna recently appealed the FCC’s decision to shunt their $8.6 billion deal off for a hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ), a place where such deals are sent to die by the commission.
The groups opposing the deal wasted no time pouncing.
The NewsGuild-CWA; the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians-CWA; Common Cause; and the United Church of Christ, OC Inc. filed an objection this week with the D.C. Circuit of the US Court of Appeals – their most recent thumbs-down to the deal.
This deal has certainly been a bonanza for law firms all around.
Perhaps all of the involved parties will get an award from the Bar Association after all of the dust has settled.
