HE’S HANGING UP ONE OF HIS HATS

Jim Berry has been a familiar face to Miami tv news viewers for more than three decades, six years at Sunbeam’s WSVN and the past 27 at CBS-owned WFOR.

That’s a lotta scores read.

“I feel like the Lou Gehrig of sportscasters,” Berry said. “So lucky to have covered so many huge moments in South Florida sports. Now, I’m excited about applying the same creative energy in a broader arena.”

Over the past few years, Berry has also been doing his share of news anchoring.

Now he is leaving the sports duties behind to focus on his news anchoring.

He’s keeping his 5:30 news slot and will be co-anchoring a new 9 pm newscasts on sister station WBFS beginning tonight.

At some point in the near future, Berry will also be anchoring a 7:30 pm newscast on the station’s streaming site.

Mike Cugno, WFOR’s no. 2 sportscaster in recent years, takes over lead sports anchor duties, a job which includes hosting Dolphins postgame shows
