WTVA, Allen Media’s dual affiliate of ABC and NBC in Tupelo, MS. is excited about the new member of their sports team, Avery Hilliard, just as football season arrives.
Hilliard has been part of the news team for a year and a half and is now transitioning into a news/sports hybrid role, a chance to pursue her dream.
Hilliard is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Tennessee Wesleyan University (TWU) and a master’s degree from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).

She played college volleyball where she broke the record for the most blocks. She also started her own podcast at TWU and was on the radio at Ole Miss.
WTVA put together a few promos about Hilliard joining Jason Williams on their high school football show, Friday Night Fever, as well as being the newest member of the sports team.
