Deborah Hooper, Former WFMY GM, Passes Away

Deborah Hooper, former general manager of WFMY, Tegna’s CBS affiliate in Greensboro, North Carolina, died on January 20th.

She worked at WFMY for 25 years as president and general manager until 2011.

She then led the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce for 12 years and was honored with the 2023 Thomas Z Osborne Award.

“Deborah lived the motto that ‘there is nothing that you can’t do, so long as you are willing to give away the credit,’ says Brent Christensen, with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce.
“She was an incredible leader who spent every day in service to a community that she loved.”

Hooper was born in Greensboro and was 67 years old.
