WBFF and WJLA , the Fox affiliate in Baltimore and the ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C., both owned by Sinclair, are joining The Baltimore Sun in an expansion of “Spotlight on Maryland,” an investigative team dedicated to impactful and accountability reporting across the state.
This collaboration will bring up to 20 additional investigative reporters to multiple platforms, significantly expanding coverage of critical issues that impact the citizens of Maryland and providing unmatched, comprehensive and powerful investigative reporting that you won’t find anywhere else.

“Through this expansion of investigative reporting, we are reinforcing our commitment to delivering impactful journalism that drives change across the state,” says Scott Livingston, SVP of News for Sinclair. “This partnership ensures that vital stories affecting Marylanders receive the attention they deserve from the largest team of investigative reporters in the region.”
This partnership will also utilize the investigative resources of WJLA in Washington, D.C., to provide coverage of significant and impactful stories from Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and across the state of Maryland. “Spotlight on Maryland” aims to be the go-to source for accountability journalism.
With WBFF’s commitment to hard-hitting award-winning journalism, plus WJLA’s dedication to dig deeper into issues important to communities across Maryland, and The Baltimore Sun’s legacy of investigative reporting excellence, the “Spotlight on Maryland” investigative team will continue to focus on in-depth investigations that shine a light on topics such as government oversight, corruption, wasteful spending and lack of transparency.
With investigative reporting more crucial than ever, this expansion of “Spotlight on Maryland” will bolster state-wide coverage, making impactful and meaningful journalism more accessible to the public.
“Spotlight on Maryland” investigations will be available across multimedia platforms: social, digital, broadcast and print, ensuring accessibility and widespread reach.

“This expansion strengthens our ability to uncover the truth and hold those in power accountable,” said Trif Alatzas, The Baltimore Sun’s publisher and editor-in-chief. “By combining the investigative expertise of The Baltimore Sun with FOX 45’s commitment to in-depth journalism, we’re ensuring that Marylanders have access to the critical reporting they need to stay informed and engaged.”
