Michelle Edmonds, the former leading evening news anchor at KIVI, the Scripps’ ABC affiliate in Boise, is heading back to school of sorts.
Edmonds has been announced as the Chief Communications Officer for the West Ada School District based in Meridian, Idaho. In addition to Meridian, the district operates public schools in Eagle, Star and western Boise. It is the largest school district in Idaho.
After 18 years at KIVI, Edmonds retired a few years ago to spend more time with her children, saying, “I stepped away from journalism a few years ago to focus on my family, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Now that my children are in college, this opportunity allows me to come full circle. My kids thrived in West Ada Schools, and I’ve seen firsthand how dedicated educators and strong leadership shape student success. I’m honored to now support that mission in a new way.”
As Chief Communications Officer, Edmonds will lead West Ada’s communications team, overseeing all internal and external messaging and serving as a key advisor to the Superintendent and executive team, according to a story by KBOI, Sinclair’s CBS affiliate in Boise.
She will also play a critical role in strengthening community engagement and public trust across Idaho’s largest school district.

“Michelle has a proven track record of public service, from launching the Community Baby Shower initiative to support at-risk families, to her ongoing work for nonprofit organizations,” says Derek Bub, West Ada School District’s superintendent.
“She’s a leader people trust to do what’s right for kids, and that’s exactly the kind of voice we want representing West Ada.”
