But not all college grads want to work in news.

Some like Ashley Nugent, a soon to be grad at the University of Tennessee see themselves in media sales, where she just wrapped as a media sales intern at WVLT, Gray’s CBS affiliate in Knoxville.

She posted the news on social media.

During my time as an intern, I learned about digital and broadcast advertising strategies and how to sell them as full campaign solutions in the Knoxville market.

I worked alongside media executives on cold calling, community outreach, client discovery meetings, and presenting marketing solutions to local businesses.

This experience taught me how strong client relationships and effective campaigns help businesses grow while creating real value in the community.

I want to thank Bruce Austin, Travis Dennis, and the WVLT sales team for their professional guidance throughout this internship.

I’m also thrilled to share that following my graduation this May, I will be continuing my time with Gray Media. I have accepted a full-time position as a Media Executive at WSMV in Nashville!

I’m so excited to see what the Nashville market has in store and to continue growing my skills under the leadership of Brett Fennell and Chantell Munoz. Thank you to Justin Daugherty and Jasmine Hatcher Hardin for helping facilitate the interview process and making this opportunity possible.
