Mark Holley, the chief meteorologist at WSAW, Gray’s CBS affiliate in Wausau, Wisconsin, is moving into a new role on June 1, from the news to the sales team to work as a Media Executive.

Throughout his nearly two decades as a meteorologist, and for the last 13 in Wausau, Holley has helped viewers plan their day and first alerted them to changing weather conditions, keeping families safe during severe weather.

“Mark brings passion to the job and expertise to his forecasts, empowering viewers to make good decisions for their families,” said Jessica Laszewski, VP/GM of WSAW/WZAW-TV. “This was front and center this spring as he provided life-saving information when tornadoes hit our area on April 17th and during our record-setting blizzard the weekend of March 15th. “Now, he will apply that same energy and empower local businesses to take advantage of our many forms of media advertising to grow their own work.”

“We’re excited to welcome Mark to the sales team,” said Sarah Jablonski, Director of Sales “He’s been a valuable member of our First Alert Weather team and we know he’ll bring the same dedication to the sales department. His deep connection with our community, driven approach and collaborative spirit make him a perfect fit. We can’t wait to see the success he brings.”

Holley was promoted to Chief Meteorologist in 2017, introducing the First Alert philosophy and, more recently, The Next Big Change—each providing an early warning to weather changes, giving viewers time to prepare and, ultimately, keep their families safe.

“The First Alert Weather team has more than four decades of combined experience, making us the most experienced local weather team in North Central Wisconsin,” said Holley. “I am confident that NewsChannel 7 will remain the trusted and top choice for local viewers to turn to—on air and online.”

A nationwide search for WSAW’s next Chief Meteorologist is already underway, ensuring a smooth transition for the NewsChannel 7 team and our viewers.

Holley is originally from Pennsylvania and has deep roots in North Central Wisconsin. He started his career in March 2013 at WSAW’s sister station, WEAU in Eau Claire. Mark currently lives in the Wausau area with his wife Jackie, and their two sons.
