WAVY Kicks Off School Supplies Drive, Its 30th Year

WAVY, Nexstar’s NBC affiliate serving the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, kicked off 10 On Your Side’s Operation School Supplies to help give students across Hampton Roads a strong start to the upcoming school year. For more than 30 years, WAVY-TV 10, WVBT FOX43, and CW Hampton Roads have led this impactful community initiative.

This year’s drive culminates in a live donation event on Friday, August 1st at Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News and the Target at Pembroke Square in Virginia Beach.

Viewers, businesses, and community partners are encouraged to drop off new school supplies and help make a difference for local students in need.

“Every child deserves the tools to succeed and to us, Operation School Supplies is more than a campaign—it’s a reflection of our deep commitment to our region,” says Carol Ward, Vice President and General Manager. “By uniting our local communities, we’re helping students start the school year with confidence and the resources they need to thrive.”

In addition, Harrison’s by Apple Moving returns as our official moving sponsor, ensuring donated supplies are collected and organized efficiently for our local school districts and educational organizations.
