NBC O&O’S SEND CREWS TO TOYKO
While many network anchors and reporters are descending on Tokyo, KNBC has decided to send its own crew to the Olympics.
Morning anchor Danielle Gruzman will be on the ground from the games to provide local coverage for the Los Angeles viewers. She’ll report on local athletes across all platforms.
“The station looks forward to bringing the 2020 Olympics live from Tokyo to our Southern California viewers including exclusive profiles and exciting stories of our hometown athletes,” said Renee Washington, KNBC’s news director.
“Our viewers can expect inspiring stories and many anticipated dramatic moments every day.”
Guzman went to Rio for the station. This time more than 100 athletes from Southern California will be competing.
And in Chicago, WMAQ reporter Michelle Relerford has left for the “biggest assignment of my career.” She arrived Tuesday to cover the 2020 games for the NBC owned station.
“For more than a year, I’ve been following local Olympic hopefuls working hard to earn a spot on Team USA,” she said in a statement. “It is an honor to share their journeys, knowing that we could be witnessing history.”
Relerford’s live reports from Tokyo will air during NBC 5’s 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. newscasts.
