PROMOTIONS IN BOSTON

WCVB, the Hearst owned ABC station in Boston, Mass., has promoted two of its meteorologists.

Cindy Fitzgibbon and Mike Wankum are moving up in the weather department.

Fitzgibbon is now the station’s chief meteorlogist for StormTeam5. She will lead the station’s weather coverage and will continue to be the weather anchor for WCVB’s weekday morning and noon newscast.

Wankum will move to the evening shows. He’ll anchor the 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11pm forecasts and well at the 10 O’Clock News on MeTV Boston. He was on weekends, his successor hasn’t been announced.

The station’s previous chief meteorologist Harvey Leonard retired from that role and moved into a smaller weather role last year.
