KOIN News Anchors Channel the Blues Brothers in Creative Promo

When your station is the media partner for a blues festival, it’s a chance to get creative.

That’s exactly what KOIN, Nexstar’s CBS affiliate in Portland, did to promote the Waterfront Blues Festival coming up this weekend along with fireworks.

In a post on social media, Matthew Rosenfeld, a senior VP and regional manager for Nexstar, gave a shout out to KOIN.

“Our creative team at KOIN 6 hit all the high notes with a promotional campaign that brought the partnership to life in a bold and unforgettable way,” Rosenfeld, says. “It’s a perfect example of how local broadcasters can amplify local culture with creativity that resonates.”

KOIN news anchors Ken Boddie, the station’s political director and anchor, and Jeff Gianola, anchor and 26-year veteran at KOIN, donned sunglasses and attitude, and without a word, channeled the famous Blues Brothers to promote the event.
