Former ESPN President John Skipper, who suddenly and unexpectedly left the Disney-owned sports broadcaster last year as a result of a drug problem, has joined UK sports media firm Perform Group.
Skipper will serve as executive chairman of the group, which operates a number of digital sports brands internationally.
It’s not a bad bounce back for Skipper after his ignominious exit from ESPN after 27 years.
Several months after his exit, he disclosed that a principal reason for his departure was that he found himself tangled up in a cocaine extortion plot.
Perform CEO Simon Denyer is confident that Skipper is back in form and ready to help the company with its ambitious expansion plans.
“John is one of the most significant leaders in the history of our industry, and I am delighted that he has agreed to join me and the team to help take Perform to the next level of our ambitions.”
