“TODAY” AIMS FOR THE CORD-CUTTERS

Younger news viewers have long been “The Today Show’s” jam, as the kids say these days.

That includes cord-cutters, and the franchise wants to make sure it can reach them.

With that in mind, the staff has created a line-up of digital offerings – largely original video – that will run for the remainder of the summer and into the fall.

“There is an appetite from our audience and advertising partners for more quality Today content beyond the traditional television screen,” said Trevor Fellows, evp of digital partnerships NBCUniversal. “We are delighted to roll out this new programming which allows for Today to reach viewers 24/7 everywhere.”

The new shows are produced by the Today digital team, and are to be found on Today.com, Today’s YouTube channel and on Today’s OTT apps, including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku.

A partial listing of new offerings:

“Cold Cuts” with Al Roker: Equal parts cooking show and celebrity interview with Roker.

“Get It Together” – Today contributor Anna De Souza shares life hacks that are fun, easy and get you out the door faster.
We’re so old we remember when “life hacks” were called “helpful household hints.”

“The Check Out” – “Today” puts trending products to the test in this 100% shop-able series with Today producer Courtney Gisriel.

“The Upside” –  Good news guaranteed to put a smile on your face and heartwarming features that restore your faith in humanity.
We’ll be the judge of that.
