Sarkes Tarzian’s WRCB is playing chessmaster with both talent and its daily news schedule before falls rolls around.

On the talent side, reporter Tim Pham will cut back on some reporting duties so that he can slide into the AM anchor desk chair.

He will be the new 4:30 a.m. anchor, while continuing to report.

That will free up anchor Michelle Heron so that she can move to the weekend morning anchor desk on Saturday and Sundays, from 6-8 a.m.

The boss is thrilled.
“Tim and Michelle are both tremendous journalists who have quickly connected with our community both on-air and off,” said news director Callie Starnes. “I’m thrilled to see them expand into these new roles and continue offering coverage viewers can truly depend on.”

Pham moves to the anchor desk July 23, and Heron begins her new role July 28.

In addition, the station is launching a 4 p.m. newscast on-air and across all streaming platforms this fall.

David Carroll and Cindy Sexton will add the 4 p.m. show to their 5 and 6 p.m. duties.

Meteorologist Brittany Beggs will join them at 4 p.m. and become the primary meteorologist for “Eyewitness News at Noon.”

Think of the extra commercial inventory as everybody pulls double-duty.
