We’re not saying local newsrooms should be sending crews overseas.
We’re not even saying they should be sending them to Washington, DC for more meaningless photo ops (and the attendant gaseous promo spots).
But we wouldn’t complain if they regularly covered city hall, the county commission and the state capital in place of the endless parade of house fires, cat-filled decrepit houses and last night’s finalists on “American Idol” or “The Voice.”
And we are suggesting they could learn something about the real work of journalism from this promo.
It is hard work.
