The Washington Free Beacon has a sizzle video montage about Attorney Michael Avenatti once dubbed ‘Savior of the Republic’ by a CNN pundit.
The former CNN and MSNBC darling is facing spending the rest of his life in prison after being found gulty last week for a wide array of financial crimes, including fraud, embezzlement and extortion.
Last year The Beacon posted a montage of various media outlets including ‘the View‘ fawning to the point of absurdity over Avenatti, who was so popular with the jet set press comparisons to “the Holy Spirit” were made.
Why was Avenatti so popular? Avenatti was representing porn star Stormy Daniels as she famously pursued legal action against Donald Trump over an affair and subsequent hush-money and cover-up scandals. But in truth, his clients were really #TheResistance at large, and there are no bigger fans of that movement to be found on cable and network news.
Fox News Channel’s Brit Hume shared the Free Beacon’s tweet on Friday, pondering whether the people featured are capable of being embarrassed by it.
Pollster and Fox News regular Frank Luntz called out the general media reluctance to admit their gross misjudgment of Avenatti’s character, focusing in particular on Stelter’s newsletter paragraph on the topic.
Avenatti appeared most frequently on CNN, which welcomed him an astonishing 121 times. MSNBC also had a high tally, having him on 108 times. He made 24 appearances on broadcast news; 12 on ABC, seven on CBS and five on NBC. Avenatti appeared on Fox News twice.
Roughly 70 percent of his television appearances took place between March and June of 2018 as his client’s legal battle with the president repeatedly made headlines.
