15 years after abandoning mornings for the evening shift at Scripps’ Cleveland flagship WEWS, it’s back to the dawn patrol for veteran anchor Danita Harris.

And, she tells us, she couldn’t be happier!

“I always loved working mornings and helping Clevelanders start their day with a smile,” says Harris in the official press release. “My time on ‘Good Morning Cleveland’ years ago was a joy, and I look forward to energizing our viewers.

The station hasn’t named a replacement for Harris in the evenings, but we can imagine the proverbial “nationwide search” is underway.

Her move off evenings has raised some hackles in the community, as several local activists demanded to know if her replacement will be another black woman.

We can’t predict that – but given the tv news business, we feel safe in predicting she will be a she and will be younger.

Harris’ new/old assignment starts March 23rd.
