Minneapolis Fox duopoly KMSP-WFTC is expanding daily news production and will soon be pumping out a whopping 11 hours of local news, five days a week.

Tim Blotz and Naomi Pescovitz have gotten the nod to helm “Fox 9 News at 6:30” and the hour-long “Fox 9+ News at 7 p.m.”

The suits trotted out the anodyne rationale for the expansion.

“People are busier than ever, and we need to be ready to deliver quality local news that fits their schedule. With their hometown knowledge and strength in reporting, Tim and Naomi are the perfect pair to take on this challenge,” said vice president and news director Marian Davey.

Think commercial avails.

Blotz has been the station’s weekend anchor and political reporter for the past 14 years.

Pescovitz most recently served as the solo anchor for the half-hour edition of the “Fox 9+ News at 7 p.m.” and prior to that, she was an anchor and reporter for Dispatch Broadcasting’s WTHR in Indianapolis.
