METEOROLOGIST

We have an immediate opening and are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Meteorologist to join our award-winning news staff.

If you want to live in the second most desirable City in America, KRDO-TV, the ABC Affiliate is located in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado, along the front range of the Colorado Rockies.

How you like would to have Pike’s Peak in your backyard, live minutes from exceptional hiking, be a mere 3 hours from world class skiing, and still be able to drive an hour north to catch the Broncos game in Denver?

Job Description:

This position would require 3 days of reporting during the week, BUT your stories will all be weather-related.

When there is severe weather (we get everything from tornadoes to flash flooding to blizzards), you’ll either be out in it or assisting with coverage in the studio.

Position also performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Meteorologist and newsroom managers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and enterprising about weather coverage, possessing the ability to produce forecasts, weathercasts, and storm alert bulletins, that are compelling, visually interesting, clear and concise.

A positive and professional demeanor is required when representing the station during public appearances, as is the ability to follow policies and procedures consistent with the station’s goals of becoming the best and first choice for weather, news, and information.

Requirements:

This position requires a degree in meteorology, a minimum of two (2) years’ broadcast meteorology experience, and at least one (1) year multimedia journalist (reporting, shooting and editing stories) experience.

A good live presence in the field is a must, as well as excellent computer skills and knowledge.
