MSNBC CONJURES UP A ONCE-FAMILIAR VOICE

MSNBC is summoning up its past to celebrate its present.

Very much like a 2018 promo in which past American presidents celebrated journalism, this one uses sound from storied NBC News anchor Chet Huntley (who died in 1974), praising the American journalist,

Huntley’s words play out as black and white images of MSNBC staffers scroll on the screen.

Take a look.

The promo ends with the tagline “This is when it matters. This is who we are,” which appears to be a direct reference to the current landscape where journalists and news organized are routinely attacked by Donald Trump verbally and on Twitter — while others are put in physical danger and even killed around the world.
