A new face turned up on the weather set at Capitol Broadcasting’s WRAL in Raleigh, NC over the weekend.

Peta Sheerwood came halfway across the continent, from WOWT in Omaha, NE.

She’s doing weekend mornings at the station and, before Omaha, worked in Lincoln, Nebraska, and in Gainesville and Miami, Florida.

Sheerwood is actually replacing Mike Moss, who retired at the end of last year.

But the recent surprise departure of chief meteorologist Greg Fishel ( in the middle of a sweeps period no less!) means there is still a big hold to fill at the station – and a hot topic for water cooler speculation.

Let it commence.
