There’s a bit of history being made in the Buffalo market at Tegna’s WGRZ.

Meteorologists Maria Genero and Heather Waldman  are now sharing forecasting duties at  5, 5:30, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. following the retirement of veteran weeknight forecaster Kevin O’Connell.

Not only that, but Jen Stanonis will replace Waldman on the weekends.

For the first time, Buffalo viewers will see three female meteorologists, seven days a week.

The last time a female meteorologist forecasted the weekday evening weather in Buffalo was in the 1960s: Doris Jones, who was inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1999.
