WJHL is looking for a meteorologist for our weekend newscasts. Candidates must be able to produce and present a clear, focused and forward-looking forecast and be prepared to cover severe weather from the studio and the field. Duties will include live reporting in the field and producing weather content for our digital and social media platforms. Candidates should have a meteorology degree.
NWA & AMS seals and experience with Baron Omni or Lynx preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Produces and presents weather reports for Saturday and Sunday newscasts.

Ensures that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.

Presents weather forecasts on a variety of shifts, filling in for sick and vacationing colleagues on the weather team

Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating weather programming and other content.

Responds to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.

Works closely with the weather team to develop comprehensive weather coverage.

Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.

Works as a weather reporter as needed turning weather-related and outdoor stories.

Writes web stories detailing the local forecast on a daily basis.

Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites.
