The 40-year-long broadcast career of Bruce Carter, 26 of them as news director of Cordillera’s WLEX in Lexington, KY, has come to a close.

His retirement came Friday, on his 40th anniversary date.

“It’s been an honor to serve here for two decades. Very few news directors these days get the opportunity to stay with one station for that length of time,” said Carter “So much has changed in the way we deliver news- but what has remained constant is being a credible and trusted part of the community

In fact, very few news directors get much past year two these days.

It’s a great business, that way.

Carter started his career in 1978 at WBKO in Bowling Green.
