After 23 years of calling the weather shots at CBS-owned KDKA in Pittsburgh, chief meteorologist Jeff  Verszyla had a surprising Twitter message for viewers.

“FYI to all my faithful viewers for the last 23 years … today I was let go from my job at KDKA. Thanks for inviting me into your home. I truly appreciate you all!”

His station website bio was yanked even before Verszyla got to share his news.

He was also scrubbed from station promo photos on social media.

This was planned and swiftly executed.

Verszyla said he had no warning it was coming and was given no reason for his termination.
“I’m upset I was not given the opportunity to properly say goodbye on my broadcast…but please know I appreciate all of you.”

The station still has no comment.
