LONGTIME NEWS EXEC GETS FIRST GM JOB

Staring looming Nexstar ownership in the face evidently prompted longtime station manager and news director Denise Vickers to take her leave of Tribune’s WHNT in Huntsville, AL to become GM of Lockwood’s WFXG in Augusta, GA.

Lockwood is the latest owner of the station, which was spun off as the result of the Gray-Raycom merger.

Vickers brings more than 20 years of broadcast news and station management experience to her first GM role.

WFXG is one of four Fox affiliates acquired by Lockwood at the close of the Gray-Raycom merger on Jan. 1.
