KMPH / Fox26 Sports has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Weekend Sports Anchor / weekday sports Reporter. Previous anchoring and reporting experience is required.
We are seeking a TV sports professional who understands what good, local and amateur, sports coverage means. We won’t consider anyone who simply sits at ka set or stands at a wall and voices highlights. We week a sports reporter who can identify and then create local sports coverage that goes well beyond college and high school football and AAA Baseball. Can you craft stories about a young woman who has created a high school hiking team? How about showing us someone who kayaks challenging rivers, has bowled a series of 300-games, a 10 year-old soccer player who is averaging 10 goals per-game? We tell stories, and we want to speak with you if you also do that.
The ideal candidate should have considerable live shot experience. We are looking for a strong writer, someone with sharp wit and the ability to work well with others. We’re also looking for someone who is a self-starter and who can generate his or her own story ideas on a daily basis. The winning candidate will be able to demonstrate enterprise reporting and creativity in story-telling. Exemplary communication skills and previous experience working in a team environment are a must.
You will be required to produce daily content on a variety of platforms including the internet and social networks, along with performing other duties as assigned by the news managers or sports director. Ability to work under deadline and on a flexible schedule that will include evenings and/or weekends is required. You must have two years on-air experience.
If you have the required experience and skills, please apply online. In addition, include a link of your latest work.
