That shudder-inducing scandal involving sexting and allegations of revenge porn has cost Rafer Weigel his job at Fox-owned WFLD in Chicago, IL

Less than a year after he was moved off weekends to take over co-anchor duties on “Good Day Chicago”, Weigel told Chicago media watcher Robert Feder “Fox 32 let me go.”

Weigel has been on unpaid suspension from the station since October, when the allegations first surfaced.

While Weigel was never charged with a crime in the convoluted case, and one of the civil actions against him was dismissed, the entire episode was certain to end badly.

TV station management can only gloss over so much.

Feder further reports that while Weigel’s statement was not specific, friends said he was being treated for sex addiction.

He also is a recovering alcoholic.
