ESPN reporters and program host have once again been issued a memo in which Chuck Salituro, the senior news director of the sports network, directed them to stay the hell out of any current event discussions on –air.
The end result is that while a lot of time has been spent on the story of Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey creating an international incident after tweeting and then deleting his support for pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong, there has been absolutely no discussion of WHAT that Hong Kong was actually about and why the Chinese government blew up at the NBA.
So context isn’t at all important to the “senior news director”.
If you can’t provide it because the context is off-limits to you and delicate sensibilities of the average ESPN viewer, perhaps you should just pass it by.
Maybe just stick to highlights and scores?
