AN UNCEREMONIOUS, BUT EXPECTED, DUMPING

You might remember that back in mid-August, we told you that FIOS1 News would be pulling the plug in mid-November.

It’s mid-November.

FIOS1 News went dark Wednesday….a few days before RNN’s contract with Verizon was due to expire.

Staffers were notified by email Tuesday night.

The email was time-stamped at 5:39 p.m., Nov. 12, by Human Resources director Yolanda Evangelista-Wynne on behalf of “RNN and the French Family.”

“We will be ceasing Fios1 News production at the end of the day on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. The last newscast will be the 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. We were originally assured the broadcast would run until the end of this week, but we have now been informed that is no longer the case.”

No on-air good-byes, no pats on the back.

Just…..you’re done. Get out.

Lost are 150 jobs of journalists who worked to create hyper-local content to targeted geographic areas on Long Island, New Jersey and the Lower Hudson Valley.
