Jay Hildebrandt has been a staple on News-Press & Gazette’s KIFI in Idaho Falls, ID for the past 35 years.

That career is coming to a close.

Hildrebrandt is leaving at the end of November, November 27th to be exact.

“It’s been an incredibly rewarding career,” Hildebrandt said. “I feel very fortunate to have had a job that I love and that gave me the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people in the community and with colleagues that have become my best friends. People ask me what I am going to do after I retire. With five kids and 15 grandchildren scattered around the west I think I will find enough to do to keep busy.”

He currently anchors the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. shows alongside his co-anchor of 29 years, Karole Honas.

Hildebrandt’s tv news career actually began 42 years ago in Twin Falls, Idaho, at KMVT.

He then moved on to Ft. Wayne, IN for four years until the call of the west lured him back to Idaho.
