When Nexstar took over the WGN complex in Chicago, it wasted no time clearing out the front office of WGN Radio.

Now, a familiar voice to Chicago listeners and viewers has gone missing.

Legendary Chicago anchorman Bill Kurtis is off the air of the AM station.

Nexstar Media Group dumped Kurtis who had been a fairly distinctive promotional voice for WGN Radio.

Now, station IDs and promos are being recorded by Steve Kamer, a New York-based voice-over artist known for work on NBC Olympics coverage.

That’s not the only significant change.

In an effort to tie WGN Radio more closely with its more successful tv counterpart, new jingles for WGN Radio will incorporate the familiar theme music from the TV station’s newscasts.

Synergy, baby.

Oh and….made ya look.
