OK, we get it…Chicago has a distinctive skyline.

The Willis Tower. The Hancock. The CNA Tower. Metropolis.

But does EVERY tv station have to use it as a studio backdrop on newscasts?

Evidently, yes.

NBC O&O WMAQ is the latest to adopt the skyline behind its main anchor desk.

Before joining the crowd, WMAQ typically fed live camera feeds from throughout the city behind anchors, creating the feel of a real “window.”

Maybe skylines are safer.

But not as interesting.
